Early in my doctoral studies, I was blessed to learn about the topic of homeschooling, and I was deeply drawn to this personalized approach to education and the wisdom within it.

在美国、加拿大、澳大利亚等国家有数以百万计在家上学的孩子，这些家庭会选择不同的理念和学习资源来教育孩子。在中国家庭和华人家庭中，在家上学还是相对较新的概念。但根据我的研究和观察，也已经有不少“敢于第一个吃螃蟹的人”了。In countries such as the United States, Canada, and Australia, there are millions of homeschooled children, and these families choose different approaches and learning tools to educate children (Ray, 2017, 2026; Yin 2022, 2025). Among Chinese families, homeschooling is still a relatively new concept. However, based on my research and interaction with such families, there are already quite a few who are brave enough to be the first to try something new.

In this essay, I would like to introduce a platform for learning math at home: CTC Math.

The learning platform he created serves more than 200,000 families in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and around the world.

我了解到平台有一个明显的特点 —— 视频非常精简，时长大多在4到9分钟，目标是简明扼要地阐述数学概念。可能更能抓住孩子的注意力。I learned that one clear feature of the platform is that its videos are very concise, mostly 4 to 9 minutes long, with the goal of explaining math concepts clearly and briefly. This may be better at holding children’s attention.

Later, our team was honored to receive U.S. federal tax-exempt status, which allows us to pursue more meaningful collaborations. Our team has seven full-time mothers, and everyone from the founding team to the board members is a volunteer. Our research has so far served several thousand families as a public service.

Some states now provide funding support for homeschooling, for example through an Education Savings Account.

If a child has special needs, they will be given priority. We will later provide a more detailed breakdown of platforms that fall under the private school category.
